Mean, Median and Mode

The mean, median and mode are simply different types of averages.
To get the mean from a set of numbers you must first add them all up, when you have done that, you must divide them by the total numbers there are.
For example:

The median is the number in the middle if you put all the data in numerical order, from smallest to biggest.
Example ( From the information above):
1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 3, 4, 4, 4, 4, 5, 5, 5, 5
Both 4 are the middle numbers, the median is 4.

Another way of doing it is by adding the frequency numbers which gives you 14. You then have to half this number, the answer in this case is 7. Then in your table you have to:

The mode is simply the most repeated number.
Using the information from the examples, the mode would be:
1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 3, 4, 4, 4, 4, 5, 5, 5, 5
The mode would be 1.

Standard Form

Standard Form is used for writting either very big or very small numbers.

In a calculator or in any other place you can recognise Standard Form by how it is written:

e.g.

Standard Form is always a number (x) times 10 to any power (y).

x * 10y

The power can be either negative or positive, if it is a positive number, the decimal point moves to the right, it is a negative power, the decimal point moves to the left.
